THE FURNACE OF LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
- The pain and rewards of INTEGRITY
- The need for strong relationships to BUILD TRUST
- Why organizational MONSTERS are created
- To EMBRACE the chaos of decision-making and much more
''Rick is an exemplar of the highest manifestation of leading, what I call 'when the leader becomes the lesson.' Here's what I mean: When we seek and attain mastery, our example is the teacher; our lives become the lesson.''
From the Forward of The Furnace of Leadership Development
''...I am so blessed to have you as an integral part of my development during the early stages of my career. You have taught me many things from faith to leadership and I will continue to carry those things as a part of me.''
Loveland Fire Rescue Authority, Colorado
''The book is very easy to read, down to earth, and full of stories of that are entertaining, humbling, and honest. This book will make you reflect on your own attributes and leadership style. I highly recommend to anyone that is aspiring to be a leader or is already in a leadership role.''
Battalion Chief, Brighton Fire Rescue, Colorado
''If you are or will be a leader -- whether by formal position or by informal influence – this book is for you. Written by military veteran and retired fire battalion chief Rick Davis, The Furnace of Leadership Development provides a uniquely solid perspective of true leadership: what makes an effective leader, why, and how you can be that effective leader.''
author, New Jersey
''Rather than write a book on leadership that reads like a 'how-to' manual or 'assembly instruction', Rick takes on a life-journey of leadership. He weaves the critical aspects of leadership - integrity, character, credibility, trust, wisdom - into the stories that forged his life. Rick doesn't just tell us how to be good leaders, he shows us the way and then guides us along the path. And, he doesn't pretend to be the perfect, flawless leader. He walks us through his own struggles and challenges as a leader. Well worth the read!''
''...a view into the life of a leader by writing a memoir that instructs on Leadership, or Leadership viewed through a life lived within the paradigm.''
